Protecting Our Older Loved Ones from Financial Scams - By Classaction.org
As technology continues to advance and scams continue to change it can be hard to protect ourselves. I was with my mom one time when someone pretended to be a family member stranded in another country and needed financial assistance from my mom. Within a matter of 2-3 minutes they were able to pull general information from my mom. Ultimately, my mom decided to hand up and call the the parents of the supposed family member and that is when we realized the person was not who they said they were. This is just one example on how scammers operate but it can occur through email, websites, phone calls, and even through real life interactions. Classaction.org reached out to me asking me to share some of their information on how to protect our older loved ones from financial scams. Being knowledgeable on different types of scams can help care partners know how to protect our loved ones, and helps our older loved ones learn how to protect themselves. I highly recommend reading their information on scam protection.
